First Foods for Ages Five and Under: How To Feed Your Family Healthfully and Sustainably

Date: This class is scheduled as groups request it.

A Healthy People – Healthy Planet Mini-Workshop Available for Your Group

This 2-hour workshop is presented by the Co-op Food Store’s Sustainability Coordinator, Emily Neuman and Registered Dietitian Mary Saucier Choate at your facility: day care center, pre-school or kindergarten, parents’ group, or your group meeting place.

Participants will have a chance to learn effective strategies for maneuvering through the boom market in food products marketed towards infants and toddlers: how to evaluate the pros and cons of these products and how they fit into your child’s healthful diet.

  • Part One focuses on food choices and meal planning and looks at nutrition needs and packaging issues.
  • Part Two introduces the fundamentals of age-appropriate feeding guidelines and of food prep methods that eliminate the need for commercially packaged toddler foods.

Participants will learn strategies for feeding children healthfully and with awareness of the impact of their food choices on the environment.

Cost is $50 for the 2-hour presentation for up to 30 participants. To schedule this class for your group or for more information, please call Mary Saucier Choate at (603) 640-6342 or send her an email.
