New and Online: Department Updates

Information You Can Trust from Industry Insiders

by Ken Davis, Co-op Webgeek

Stale online summaries of grocery-store departments can be rather boring, don’t you think? To make things interesting, this is where we respond to some of your good questions on a department-by-department basis. So keep ‘em coming!

You Ask, We Answer

There’s no need to browse through digital boredom when the food co-op world is such an interesting place. And to keep our website’s department pages updated with all that interesting stuff, staff members with expertise in each area go through the many questions they get from members and customers and hand-pick the topics they feel might impact a broad selection of other Co-op shoppers. These same staff members then take their answers to those questions, expand on them, and write them up as postings for the Co-op website. Some are simple Q & As. Others are articles that have originated from a customer question. Click the links at left to browse.

Picking and Choosing

We get a lot of questions around here, so rather than list them all and run the risk of an unruly mess, we pick and choose as best we can in the hopes of selecting the information that will serve you best. The posted updates are fresh, relevant, and change according to member and customer input—offering insights into many of the complex dynamics that impact the food industry. It’s a work in progress that’s just getting started, so look for it to develop over time as you ask and we answer.

Commitment to Transparency

Sound interesting? It is! You can learn a lot, and one of the great benefits of the new format—particularly for members —is that you can be better educated about the business you own. You can also trust that the information you are getting is not marketing or promotional esoterica developed in a faraway corporate office somewhere to cloud what may really be going on. This is honest information from honest people, just as you’ve come to expect as a Co-op shopper.
