Question of the Week for December 5: Does the Co-op carry the right ratio of organic or “natural” vs. conventional processed products?

- Yes. One thing I appreciate about the Co-Op is that I can pick up some diet Canada Dry ginger ale, extra-large Lindsay black olives or a run-of-the-mill baking item without having to stop at another store for them. In the produce section, I think there is also a good mix of organic and non-organic.
- I consider it a pretty good ratio. It’s nice to have both options. It also saves on having to go to more than one store for a shopping trip. I think it’s a great balance. It’s also great for people who are easing in to organic and natural shopping._
- I think the White River Co-Op has an excellent mix of products. Since this store opened, I shop there almost exclusively. While I do not buy “processed” food items very often, sometimes I do just want a package of Nabisco Wheat Thins, rather than a specialty cracker, for example. I think it’s important to have a mix of products at this store, and I know this was a hot topic of discussion when the Co-Op took over this location. So far I am very happy with what’s on the shelves._
- I think you are doing a good job of carrying both/choice of organic and conventional. I am pleased to have the choice even though I tend toward organic. It is important to offer organic in as many dept. as possible and I have noticed more and more people trying organic products in all depts. especially fresh produce!_
- I always buy organic when I can and I am very grateful to the Coop that you carry as much organic as you do, especially in the produce section. I would like to see organic be the dominant product and have “the best seat in the house,” of course. I have not noticed that I have trouble finding organic products that I need, so I guess the answer is that I am not noticing a problem with the mix, but would like to see organic more front and center as opposed to conventional being dominant._
- I’d like to see even more, and more clearly separated. and also a distinction between sodas with fructose and regular cane sugar._
- I’m disappointed not to find some of the conventional processed products that I like. The organic/natural is overwhelming the conventional and is more expensive. I want to support the Co-op but am getting alarmed at the increasing prices._
