Question of the Week for November 7: What Benefits Should the Co-op Offer?
A Sampling of Member Answers
- I have no problem with the benefits you provide now, but if you want to know what benefits I need as a member of a cooperative, I’d like 1) banking services and 2)an affordable health insurance plan.
- Benefits from our membership would be nice, but not if it means an increase in prices or decrease in benefits for employees. Wish list: Discount membership price at RVC – there is a huge cross membership, and you both support healthy living. Think about other possible partnerships, as an increase in benefits might attract more membership. Not a benefit perhaps – but please keep up the transition of the WRJ store to include a full bulk/bin section.
- Many co-ops I have belonged to offer a 5-15% discount on all items for members. I guess I just don’t really understand the benefits of having “shares” in the co-op, and although I shop regularly, spend alot of money there ($3-5K per year) am a member, I don’t feel like I am saving anything by being a member.
- What about working memberships that would offer greater discounts to members that worked a certain number of hours per week (2-5 hrs. per week). You could possibly get some talented people to do some work even from home (administrative work, website work, etc).
- For members only: a onte-time drawing, and the person that gets picked gets their largest purchase of the previous year in a check back to them or a gift crtificate for that amount. Tahnks them for being a member and shopping at the Co-op.
- Home delivery service (for a fee) if someone lives alone and gets sick and needs food.
