- I understand the health and ecological benefits of using a stainless steel bottle and now use one on a daily basis. Based upon the use of lead paint in toys, contaminated pet food, and diluted baby formula, I do not have confidence in the quality of items made in China, especially those which impact health. However, I have read “A Year without ‘Made in China’” and am certain I am unknowingly using products made in China all the time that may be impacting my health. Also, I have visited Klean Kanteen’s website. They seem to be a responsible company.
- While I will always have concerns about purchasing items made in China, I am more concerned about the economic, environmental and health impact of buying bottled water, especially if those bottles are plastic. Using filtered water from the tap and one stainless steel bottle made in China seems like a more responsible solution. Using a glass bottle with a protective rubber sheath, all made in the USA, is perhaps an even better alternative.
- I probably wouldn’t purchase the bottle. I read their pages but still have no idea of why they need to mfgr. in China. For all of their sustainability talk, they can’t be considering the cost of shipping them here from there. Time to bring mfg. home – time for us to buy American Made.
- I do not have concerns about purchasing a Klean Kanteen; however, whether or not I would depends on the price.
- It looks like a very good product and I have no concerns buying one. I am curious why you call it a China-based company. From their website, “Our Story” says “We are a small, family-owned and -operated company in northern California with more than 30 years of history and an enduring commitment to product and service excellence.” The wording of your question appears to be trying to DISCOURAGE people from buying them. These bottles are designed by a small US company with materials selected to be safe. It is competitive products that raise concerns.
- No, I would not purchase any. I have not looked at the site. Has the COOP exhausted all possibilities of bottles made domestically? In case you missed it, this country is in dire need of employment. How about extending your concept of buying “local” to from sea to shining sea?
- I would not hesitate to purchase these bottles. Made in China is not necessarily an evil thing.
- I am familiar with Klean Kanteen. The quality is very good but they are made in China which I feel is not a good thing to support as a conscientious co-op member. I would rather support an American made product so I would have concerns about purchasing them.
