In Search of the Sly, Elusive Nut-Free Energy Bar

Someone recently came to us for help because her son had a severe peanut allergy, and she was trying to find an energy bar for him that was not processed with nuts. An excellent question!

Nut-Free Options

I have not come across peanut and tree-nut free energy bars as of yet that are available through the food distributors we deal with. We do carry nut-free chocolate bars from the Vermont Nut Free Chocolate Company. I know they recently have developed a granola snack bar, but the last time I talked with them it was being self distributed and not available to us through the local Vermont food distributor we use to get their other items.

We also sell three of the Enjoy Life brand of peanut and tree nut free snack/granola bars. They come in three flavors: Sunbutter Crunch, Very Berry, and Cocoa Loco. All three are carried in both Co-op Food Stores. You will find them in the cereal aisle along with the boxed granola bars.

After doing a web search for peanut-free snack bars, I did come across an e-commerce web site that had what is called AllerEnergy Snack Bars. I believe these are similar to the Enjoy Life bars, and you can check them out by going to www.peanutfreeplanet.com.
