The fifth Co-op Principle states that co-ops must provide education and training to their members and the public. It goes on to say, "They inform the general public—particularly young people and opinion leaders—about the nature and benefits of co-operation.”

Reaching out to young people has always been a part of our cooperative legacy. Our popular yearly events feature outdoor games, programs, and activities for kids, and we regulary hold classes for kids in our Culinary Learning Center. Get involved and help us educate the next generation of future cooperators!

Complimentary Fruit Program for Kids

Bring your little cooperators when you shop? Then be sure to swing by the Produce Departments to enjoy our Complimentary Fruit Program for Kids! The goal is to help kids be healthy and strong and to learn the value of healthy eating.

Just go through the Produce Department and get your piece of fruit from our friendly staff. Please use only the fruits identified as being part of the program. One piece per visit—for kids 12 and under. When taking a piece of fruit, please also help yourself to a sticker so we know you are participating in the program. Thanks and enjoy!

By the way, help us compost! Please ask a Co-op staff person to dispose of your pit or peel in the nearest compost.
