If you’re around the Co-op much, you’ll hear the term “merchandiser” a lot! But what does a Merchandiser do at the Co-op Food Stores?

To merchandise means to buy and sell goods in a business. At the Co-op there are several merchandisers responsible for the goods and services we offer at all our locations. These merchandisers are responsible for the following in their specific area:

  • Determine the type of items, quality, grades and brands of products to be sold.
  • Set authorized vendor, Set pricing, set ordering/delivery procedures
  • Determine shelf allocation and spacing for product and categories throughout stores.
  • Plan specials, new item promotion, and in store presentations.
  • Make additions and deletions to product mix based on movement, customer requests and recent market trends.
  • Arrange demos and sampling choices for events.
  • Respond to customer suggestions, requests and concerns.

Want to chat with one of our merchandisers? We’d love to hear from you! Please email us your suggestion or question. In the meantime, familiarize yourself with some merchandising terminology and check out the latest Merchandising News below.
