Co-op Food Stores Sustainability Team

Mission

To provide leadership within every department for achieving the Co-op’s environmental vision.
Organization

  1. The team is led by the Co-op’s Sustainability Coordinator.
  2. The team consists of one representative from each Co-op department. When the same department exists in multiple locations, a representative exists for each location.
  3. The team meets in-full at least once, but not more than four times, annually.
  4. Each team member holds open a common monthly meeting time to facilitate scheduling of mini-team and full-team meetings.
  5. The primary responsibility of department representatives is to help their co-workers identify appropriate environmental goals for their department. They provide leadership within their department for tracking progress on and achieving those goals. They also:

  • Communicate their department’s sustainability activities to the team.
  • Keep up with what other departments and the Sustainability Coordinator are doing and share this news within their own department.
  • Raise awareness within their department about what individual staff can do to contribute to the Co-op’s environmental vision.
  • Help other team representatives by serving on mini-teams.
  • Mini-teams: An individual rep may request that a mini-team be established to assist and support him or her – or another team member – on a specific environmental issue within his or her department. Each mini-team will consist of 3-4 Sustainability Team members of the individual’s choosing and will meet only as needed. Mini-teams may also be formed to plan special events or programs related to Sustainability.

The team’s common monthly meeting time is the second Wednesday of each month from 1-2 pm. The Lebanon Meeting Room is available.
